History
The St. John’s Art Festival is an open competitive art show that will celebrate its 37th competition in 2011. The juror(s) is chosen each time from a variety of sources that reflect an advanced degree in the fine arts plus a knowledge of religious doctrines. The exhibition is funded by artist’s entry fees ($15.00 per entry / limit of three) and donations from St. John’s members and friends.
The show is an integration of faith and art in the life of the church. It is a marvelous opportunity for artists in the Northern California community to show their work. The Festival is part of the church’s social and cultural outreach to the community.
The Festival has afforded the congregation an opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions and be part of the process of putting the show together. The opening of the Festival is during Sacramento’s “Second Saturday” monthly art exhibition openings that is enjoyed by a large and enthusiastic group of art lovers.
