Our Celebration Goal is $2.6 million, which will allow us to pay
$73,224 per month toward our mortgage for three years.
Who has our loan?
The Mission Investment Fund – a financial ministry of the ELCA
What are our monthly payments?
Currently, we pay $24,408 per month. At this rate we will pay
only $233,000 of the loan’s principal during the next three
years.
Will there be a need for another campaign?
We never know what God has in store for us, but if we do not pay
off the entirety of our loan in this campaign, we will consider
launching another.
How will we measure success?
The more principal we can pay off at this stage, the better. If
we triple our mortgage payments for the next three years, we will
have $1.5 million left in debt.
What about our yearly Stewardship Campaign?
Your pledge to the capital campaign is above and beyond your
annual giving. Our goal is to keep our mortgage payments from
impacting our annual budget and therefore the services and
ministries of St. John’s Lutheran Church. The quicker we pay off
our mortgage, the quicker we can move on to other priorities.
How can I prepare to participate?
Spend time in prayer asking God to guide your generous heart.
Listen. God will show you the way. And if you want to discuss
your commitment with someone, there are campaign leaders
available to help you.
If I can’t give a large amount, will my pledge make a difference?
Absolutely. The success of a capital campaign hinges on every
gift –large and small. Remember the story of the widow who
offered to God “two very small copper coins, worth a fraction of
a penny.” To the surprise of the people who gave greater sums,
Jesus celebrated her gift. “I tell you the truth, this poor woman
has put more into the treasury than all the others. She, out of
her poverty, put in everything, all she had to live on.”
Prayerfully consider what will be your sacrificial gift.
When are we expected to give our pledge?
We will gather together for worship and a celebration on Sunday,
November 14. Pledge cards will be collected at that time. You can
begin making your gifts at any point after your commitment is
received. Pledges can be made on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or
annual basis. Payments can be made in the collection plate,
mailed to the church, or processed online. We even have a system
for making automatic deductions from your checking account on a
weekly or monthly schedule.
Can I contribute in ways other than cash payments?
Yes. Donations of stocks or bonds, jewels, real estate, and other
valuables can all be accepted. You can give in many ways: cash
gifts; real estate; contributions of personal possessions, such
as antiques or valued collections; and planned gifts, such as the
transfer of stocks, bonds or other investments. Campaign leaders
will be available to supply more information.
