Health Ministry Overview

The health ministry at St. John’s encompasses a number of ministries, integrating the care of body, mind and spirit. It is a wellness model, the focus of which is health promotion and disease prevention.

The ministry is not a substitute for pastoral or medical care, or for community health. It is a collaborative partnership with these disciplines to offer resources, educational opportunities and a communication network to our congregation and the community we serve. The Health Ministry Team provides guidance and direction to these ministries.

The ministry is deeply rooted in the Bible. During his life, Jesus devoted much of his time to healing those who were broken physically, emotionally and spiritually. In addition, His charge to the New Testament Church included preaching, teaching, and healing (Mathew 10:7-8; 28:19-20; Mark 16:18).

Visitation Ministry

Currently, at St John’s, pastoral visitation is done by the Pastors and Parish Nurses. The primary focus of this visitation is for homebound and hospitalized members and those with urgent needs. The Parish Nurses coordinate the visitation schedule. If you or a member you know would like a visit, you may contact the church office.

A parish nurse will contact you for visitation arrangements. All information shared is confidential.
