This morning in a worship service filled with music and joy, we
said “goodbye for awhile” to Pastor Dave Mullen and his wife,
Sue. They will leave the St. John’s community for a year
while Pr. Frank settles into his new role as Senior Pastor.
Dave and Sue will be greatly missed, and the entire
community thanks them for their fine work at St. John’s.
See you in a year!
A few photos of the St. John’s group at the ELCA Youth Gathering.
Not only did we have a group of young people who went as
participants, but we also had another group who led some of the
sessions. They did a fabulous job and worked really, really
hard. What a way to Live God’s Love in the World!
On October 9 the St. John’s community celebrated as eleven young
people said “yes!” to the promises made at their baptisms.
It’s all a part of our pledge to Keep the Promise.
Congratulations to our Confirmands!
On Pentecost Sunday, St. John’s first Luminaria class finished
their term by affirming their vocations. Standing before
the congregation, each new member of the community was introduced
by their mentor and made known how they were going to use their
spiritual gifts in the St. John’s community and out in the world.
The ceremony was a powerful affirmation of our mission:
Live God’s Love in the World!
Thanks to all who came to the All-Church Picnic this year!
We had about 150 people in attendance, and a good time was
had by all. Special thanks to Karen Hall-Sandlund, Kari
Hanson-Smith, and Shanda Lewis who organized the event and to Tim
and Mary Baumbach for set-up help.
If you had fun at the picnic, be sure to think about joining us
at the All-Church Camping Trip in September!
The St. John’s Children’s Choirs sang for worship on both June 5
and 12 to round out their year as musical leaders in the
congregation. Thanks to each of the children for their
fabulous energy in leading the congregation and to Candace Costa
for her devotion to this important program.
On Sunday, June 5, we offered blessings to our 2011 graduates as
they make this major transition in their lives. You are
invited to congratulate them and to remember them in
prayer as they move into the world: Mitchell
Blomquist, Patrick Confer, Noah Dwyer-Voss, Jayla
Lee, Samantha Lee, Jacee Neumann, and Jack Wyatt
III.
