At St. John’s Spanish Academy our goal is to help students speak Spanish with fluency. We will use a proven method with videos and weekly phone call, grammar and writing. We will conduct the classes only in Spanish in order to simulate a native language environment.

Our emphasis is on Conversational Spanish, which consists of three levels: for beginners, intermediate, and for the advanced.

Levels of Instruction

Beginners

This course level is designed to provide students with a general understanding of basic Spanish. The course will focus on basic grammar and vocabulary essential to conversational Spanish skills. One of the teaching styles will be teaching by association to help the student master the basic expressions and grammatical structures of Spanish.

Intermediate

This course level will add to the foundation established in the Beginners’ course, and will develop new concepts essential to Spanish language fluency. The course will further tailor the students conversational skills by selecting relevant information, including a textbook, and situational settings to further strengthen the students’ fluency and comprehension.

Advanced

This course level is designed based on a working knowledge acquired in Spanish Beginners and Intermediate. The level of conversation will be more complex and elevated stressing fluency and cultural context. In addition, conversation will entail on current events both domestic and international affairs to further strengthen conversational fluency.

Other Offerings

Spanish for Travelers

An intensive basic Spanish for people “in a hurry” about to travel. Six (6) hours minimum according to the participant’s needs and wants. Flexible schedule. $180 for the first six (6) lessons. Additional hours will be charged.
 

Advanced Grammar & Writing

Levels & Tuition

Students at the Spanish Academy will find that they benefit from our programs: Beginners Conversation, Intermediate Conversation and Advanced Conversation. The programs will last 40 hours over 10 months, divided into levels A, B, C , D & E of two (2) months for each course.

Each two-month course is $155, which includes instruction, books and other materials. Donations help to support St. John’s Hispanic Ministries.
