Man and woman, woman and man, come together in marriage, in love, in unity. This unity is compared in Scriptures to the oneness of Christ and his church.

As God is love, so has God given to us the capacity to express love, and marriage provides us the opportunity to reflect on the divine relationship of love.

Love is kind, love is considerate, love is giving rather than getting, and it is such love that is embodied in the gift of marriage.

We at St. John’s feel blessed to be a part of wedding ceremonies, to bring together a harmony of personalities, to help create a unity of one from two as couples promise their love and their lives to each other.

Our Approach

• Both St. John's member and non-member weddings are welcome.
• A minister of St. John's will officiate at the wedding service.
• Male and female ordained ministers officiate at weddings.
• We observe the Lutheran marriage ceremony (see attachment at bottom of page).
• The organist is provided by St. John's and will approve all music selections.
• All couples must attend one pre-marital class.
• All couples must have one follow up pastoral conference with one of our pastors.
• The church is available to you for 1 1/2 hours prior to the wedding time.

The Church Facilities

• We can accommodate large or small weddings (our seating capacity is 500).
• Our church is German Gothic cathedral style church (one of Sacramento’s oldest).
• Our sanctuary features a center aisle and lovely stained glass windows.
• We have a large, newly renovated Bride’s Room.
• Aisle candles are available for candlelight weddings.

Availability
Saturdays: starting times between 11:00a.m. to 7:00p.m.
Some Sundays: starting at 3:00p.m. only
Availability depends on Sanctuary use and the Wedding Coordinator's schedule.

Other Information
The fee for a wedding at St. John's is $1,525. This is an inclusive price that includes the use of the church, parking garage, the pastor, the organist, the wedding coordinator, the rehearsal, custodial services, a pre-marital workshop, pre-marital counseling with the officiating clergy, and a unity candle. We require a deposit of $500 of which $400 is refundable if the wedding is canceled more than 6 months prior to the wedding date.
