A Letter From Senior Pastor Frank Espegren

Dear St. John’s Faith Community,
Here at St. John's, we are currently experiencing the intersection of two seasons: first, the church's penitential season of Lent and secondly, a season of racial tension in our city. What if we live into both of these seasons with intention, combining them into a Lenten practice?!? Welcome to our special Lenten offering this year - seven special 1-hour Wednesday 6pm Lenten Racial Reconciliation Discipline gatherings. Join us in Oehler Hall for these reflective offerings. As I said in the "Invitation to Lent" in our Ash Wednesday liturgies, "I invite you, therefore, to the discipline of Lent - self-examination and repentance, prayer and fasting, sacrificial giving and works of love...." that we will "continue our journey through these forty days to the great Three Days of Jesus' death and resurrection!" Our old-fashioned Lenten practice designed to meet the moment we are in. Sounds like the Church to me (& for us all).
Please join us.
Sincerely,

Pastor Frank Espegren
