BAPTISMS

God, who is rich in mercy and love, gives us a new birth into a living hope through the sacrament of baptism. By water and the Word, God delivers us from sin and death and raises us to new life in Jesus Christ. We are united with all the baptized in the one body of Christ, anointed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and joined in God's mission for the life of the world.

"Our baptism sets us out on a lifelong journey that is characterized by our relationship to God, our relationship to our faith community, our relationships in our community and the wider world. Living our baptismal covenant means living a life of growth in the faith practices of discipleship."

Here at St. John's, we welcome all to wonder about the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Baptisms are open to St. John's members and non-members, and begins with a conversation with our Pastoral Staff.

If you are interested in learning more about Baptism, you are welcome to reach out directly to any of our three Pastors.

WEDDINGS

"Marriage is a gift of God, intended for the joy and mutual strength of those who enter it and for the well-being of the whole human family. Jesus affirmed the covenant of marriage and revealed God's own self-giving love on the cross. The Holy Spirit helps those who are united in marriage to be living signs of God's grace, love, and faithfulness. Marriage is also a human estate, with vows publicly witnessed. The church is worship surrounds these promises with the gathering of God's people, the witness of the word of God, and prayers of blessing and intercession."

Our Pastoral Staff would be honored to walk with you and your partner through the Rite of Marriage. If you are interested in one of our Pastors officiating your wedding, you are welcome to contact them directly.

FUNERALS

"At a person's death, the church shares the grief of those who mourn and remembers the brevity of life on earth. At the funeral we give voice to sorrow, thank God for our loved one and entrust this companion of ours into the hands of God. Trusting in God's promise in baptism that we are claimed by Christ forever, we rest in the sure hope of the resurrection. When the church gathers to mark the end of life, Christ crucified and risen is the witness of worship, the strength of mutual consolation, and the hope of healing."
